Frequently Asked Questions

What is your availability?

Currently, I have morning availability Monday-Friday and morning/afternoon availability on Saturdays. For specific availability and scheduling, please see the client portal or send me an email.

What is your approach to therapy?

When it comes to treatment style, I use an eclectic, client-centered approach that is affirming of your experiences and deeply rooted in compassion. Above all, my goal is to empower my clients to address their challenges with curiosity instead of judgment, collaborating and exploring along the way.

How do I know if we’d be a good fit?

I offer free, 15-minute phone consultations where we can talk about your goals, your struggles, and what you’re looking for in a therapist to see if we’d be a good fit to move forward.

Do you accept my insurance?

For individual therapy, I am currently in-network with Aetna, Cigna, Kaiser, and CareFirst/BCBS. I would recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to determine if therapy with me would be covered by your current plan. I do not accept insurance for couples therapy.

Why don’t you accept insurance for couples therapy?

Insurance companies generally require three things to cover therapy: an identified individual client, a covered mental health diagnosis, and treatment that directly addresses that diagnosis. These criteria are typically easily met in individual therapy. In couples therapy, however, the “client” is the relationship itself, not one person, and the primary focus is relational distress (Z63.0), a code typically not covered by insurance. Even if one partner has a diagnosable condition, couples therapy aims to improve relationship dynamics rather than treat that individual disorder, making insurance billing more complicated/ethically complex. While I understand that some therapists bill under one partner’s diagnosis or interpret guidelines differently, I have determined (through consultation with peers and insurance providers) that ethically, I cannot bill insurance for the couples therapy offered here.
